How We Price our Lights

Pricing our lights is a much more complicated issue than it would seem. One of our primary goals is to keep our custom rustic, western and southwestern lighting products affordable. There are already plenty of much more expensive rustic and to a lesser extent, southwestern style lights on the market. We feel ours are better made and have nicer designs, but that is all somewhat subjective of course.  Right now, our least expensive southwestern models, the WL40 and WL42 models, are a good 25% cheaper than anything similar on the market, better quality also with real mica liners ( up 80% in cost in the last year) and not just thin plastic. The issue is that with our costs up so much, how feasible is it keeping our prices at levels from 25 years ago?  After all, what good is lighting that you cannot afford to enjoy? Yet at the same time, we have to pay our overhead like rent, gas, website work, equipment, supplies, inventory, insurance, electricity and even ourselves every now and then.  I wish there was a secret formula we had to make our lights much cheaper, but unfortunately, our raw material costs are the same or higher than everyone else. All we can do to keep prices low is cut our profit margin.  It is a delicate balance that we address every month; how to stay competitive and keep our customer's happy while remaining in business.
